There are four tapered bearing cups in the AF50-8 transmission that must be removed and installed during unit repair procedures, two in the torque converter housing and two in the transmission case. DT-51918 has multiple steps and diameters to allow for installation of all four bearing cups and contacts each cup on its top edge so the cup micro-finish tapered contact surface for the bearing rollers in not damaged. DT-51918 is used with the previously essential J-8092 Driver Handle.
